The soul wants one thing: Wonder.

Wonder is an antidote to anxiety, a healer of depression and the fertile earth of creativity. Following your yearnings is like gathering seeds to toss into your soil of wonder. Soon, you are a resident of a new earth. Your yearning speaks to you as impulses from the heart, images from the mind, and magnetic attractions from the belly. Listen.

Wonder does not exist outside of you, but rather arises from inside you. Wonder is a well at the center of your being, ready for you to bring your ladle and drink. Sometimes the Great Goddess helps you bring the ladle to your lips. Sometimes Jesus does. Sometimes the great, blue-lit Grandparents from the stars pour the water into the top of your head while chortling with ancient delight, "Does this answer your question?" (Jesus says, "If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you" - Gospel of Thomas.)

Certainty is the destroyer of wonder, the banisher of beauty, the enemy of Spirit. Certainty is the wellspring of insecurity and the birther of enemies. Certainty can only propagate itself through violence. Certainty's main food crop is shame. Certainty knows nothing of the only way human minds can be opened and made fruitful: through wooing. Certainty creates whole nations of obedient, tortured and hungry ghosts.

So we say to wonder: "I would love to kiss you." Comes the reply, as Rumi said: "The price of kissing is your life." In a world in which every effort has been made to hide the well from you, you must be willing to leave your old sad and angry self behind. That always sounds nice, but most people get a few feet from the village and turn back. Some of them return claiming to have drunk from the well and for only $5,000 they will spit in your mouth.

The journey to the well winds through the land of the seven dragons. Pack light, because you'll need to run sometimes, and dodge poison breath. In my world, the ladle is the drum. When you drink, a song will come to you. It is a power song that describes how the breath of stars and the breath of roots is the same song. It is a healing song. Drink with care and it will come. It will.

Do I speak in riddles? Very well then, I speak in riddles.

Wahoo.

Blessings,
Jaime
