The truth: God incarnates all the time. Each time someone decides to turn from hate toward love, each time wonder pushes cynicism aside, every time someone lets go of resentment, whenever someone's arrogance is softened by humility, allowing compassion to blossom, God incarnates at that moment, in that body.
The truth: the Holy dresses in a thousand thousand different costumes. It comes to the least imaginative dressed how they expect because they are so easily frightened. But to others, ones with sturdy legs and strong eyes, the Holy may come as as a storm, or a great antlered animal, or crows cavorting in the dawn mist, or an old woman cackling a song that sounds like fire. On and on the Holy delivers itself into the world.
On this night that celebrates the entrance of pure love and pure forgiveness into our troubled world, I send blessings to your legs- may they be made sturdy - and I send blessings to your eyes - may they be made strong - and I send a thousand thousand blessings into your heart - may it be taught to sing like fire, and cavort like crows, and fight like the antlered ones, and may it soar and dance in the great storm.
